Letter from the Chair of the Texas Gulf Coast Region
January 2016 was a very exciting and productive month. The newly appointed USGBC Texas State Chapter - Board of Directors met in El Paso to work on our Strategic Plan for 2016. I personally enjoyed the opportunity to experience the passion that drives the Board of Director members to work tirelessly to make a difference in their respective communities and State wide. We developed our Vision, Mission and Goals, as they related to our shared Core Values of:
1. Reconciling Humanity with Nature
2. Fostering Social Equity
3. Ensuring Inclusiveness
4. Maintaining Integrity
5. Exhibiting Transparency
Following the State Chapter’s Board of Directors meeting in El Paso, each of the five Regional Councils held Retreats in their respective Regions to internalize this information. The Texas Gulf Coast Region held our Retreat here in Houston on January 29th. I am happy to announce that it was a great success. I am continually humbled by the opportunity to serve such a committed group of professionals. Next month I will talk more about the Vision, Mission and Goals and how we are implementing them State wide and in the Texas Gulf Coast Region. Until then, remember that everyone has an opportunity to make a difference. Please feel free to contact me or any of the other Regional Council Member directly for more information.
