Letter from the Chair:
If you listened to all the rhetoric that is spewing from all the political talking heads you would think nothing of significance is being accomplished by our local, state or national governments. Well I am here to tell you good things are happening and they are happening right here in Houston. The “It” I am referring to is the adoption of the PACE program by the City of Houston. It may be the biggest thing to happen with respect to transforming our built environment in decades. And believe it or not it is the culmination of a great National idea that was adopted by the last Texas legislature and then adopted locally two weeks ago by the City of Houston. September 24, 2016 -- Green Apple Day of Service The Green Schools Committee is gearing up for Green Apple Day of Service, to be held around September 24. We are looking for Corporate Sponsors who would be interested in providing gardening supplies (mulch, tools, raised bed materials, etc). We are also looking for corporate sponsors who would be interested in providing local school districts with subscriptions to Learning Lab (https://learninglab.usgbc.org/), which is a fantastic repository of TEKS-aligned sustainability curricula for all grade levels.
